Capacity Training for the Police Psychologists- Fighting Stress in the Police

A 2 days’ Workshop for the Wellbeing Officers of Karnataka State Police Services was organized on 14-15 June 2022 at Department of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS, Bangalore.

Hanns Seidel Foundation India in collaboration with Karnataka State Police Services and National Institute of Mental Health And Neuro Services (NIMHANS) organised 2 days’ Workshop for the Wellbeing Officers of Karnataka State Police Services at the deaprtment of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS, Bangalore on 14-15 June 2022.

37 Wellbeing Officers across the state participated in the workshop.

Prof. Pratima Moorthy, Director, NIMHANS; Dr. M.A. Saleem, Additional Director General of Police (Administration); and Dr. T. Arul Roncalli, Programme Manager, HSS, India felicitated the occasion highlighting the need and significance of adopting positive coping skills and manage stress effectively. Dr. Aravind Raj, Additional Professor, Department of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS, Bangalore facilitated the event.

 

The workshop focussed on key areas such as understanding stress, handling reactions to stress, problem solving approach in managing stress, effective communication, interpersonal relationship and Positive Vs Negative Coping strategies.
