Date: 8, 9 August 2015

Place: Abu Road, Sirohi

As a  follow up or mentoring of the Women Elected Representatives trained in the Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Water Conservation and Climate Change, CSR along with the local partner planned to conduct 2 days Monitoring workshops in the same or nearby Panchayats where the ToT workshop was held this year.

The trained Women Representatives are equipped to conduct training sessions for other Panchayat members in the same or nearby Panchayats on the topic of Water Conservation and Climate Change. In order to obtain a feedback and also support the WERs in their training sessions, the CSR and local partner teams were present during a few training sessions conducted by the WERs.

This activity aimed towards a regular follow up or mentoring of the participants in which the participants carried out the training for other village - panchayat members. In this activity the role of the Project training team was only of a moderator. Further regular mentoring and support is to be provided by the Local partner to the Elected Women Representatives for conducting trainings in their respective Panchayat /Blocks.

Description

Day 1: August 8, 2015: Hand-Holding held in Kyariya Panchayat

Hand-Holding was carried out in Kyariya Panchayat on the first day of Hand-holding by Sharda Bai and Kali Bai for women of their village.

Day 2: August 9, 2015: Hand-Holding held in Umarni Village

Hand-Holding was carried out in Umarni village on the second day by Keli Bai and Shampa Bai.

Other Observations / Suggestions

The Project training team observed the need of regular follow up of the trainings especially when the participants carry out these trainings in the gram sabha meetings so that the message of water conservation and climate change spreads large and wide.

Regular follow up or hand-holding can also be ensured by the local partner carrying out the discussions around water conservation and climate change in their other project related visits to these panchayats. Carrying out simple discussion on the developments made or work done by the sarpanch or ward panch related to water conservation will ensure a regular follow up on the progress of the area.

Further every participant has her own pace of learning due to which some were more confident in carrying out the training whereas others were not that confident.
