Only a few weeks ago, the former advocate Ram Nath Kovind was a widely unknown person. Even top-ranking politicians admitted not to know the Governor of Bihar. Now, on 17th July the candidate of the governing coalition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Prime Minister Modi was elected to be the 14th President of India.
In cooperation with the government of the Bavarian partner state Karnataka, Hanns Seidel Stiftung India and the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission organized a conference on "Safe City" in Bangalore on 17 and 18 April 2017.
The Minister was on a visit to India from 24 March 2017 to 29 March 2017. During her visit, she travelled on 27 March to HSS water and climate project areas in Abu Road in the Indian State of Rajasthan.

On the 6th and 7th of February 2017, the inspectors and sub-inspectors of the Karnataka State Police took part in a Safe City training seminar called “Gender Sensitive Best Practices, Implementation and Capacity Building of Police Officials” in Bengaluru. The programme aimed at sensitizing members of the KSP junior officer ranks for the issues of women, children and transgenders in urban spaces of Karnataka.
