SIDART's Exposure & Learning Visit to Delhi

Society for Integrated Developmental Activities, Research & Training (SIDART), Jaipur, Rajasthan, organized a Learning and Exposure visit to Delhi in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) from 22nd to 25th September 2015. The objective of the visit was to develop an understanding of the Federal Governance System.

SIDART team members and elected women representatives i.e. Sarpanchs, Deputy Sarpanch, Ward Members, Panchayat Samiti Members, Ex Zila Parshad Members and SIDART Village Volunteers from Sanganer and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan visited the Parliament and the Udyog Bhawan in Delhi and Corporate Social Responsibility Office of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. in Gurgaon under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Pramila Sanjaya. The visit was an awareness program for empowering the women.

Visit to the Parliament, New Delhi

The participants met Ms. Kalpana Sharma, Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat; Mr. Naushad Alam, Additional Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat and Mr. H.S. Simte, Deputy Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat in the Parliament and had discussion on the functioning of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, their standing committees and the activities of these committees.

Ms. Kalpana Sharma appreciated the efforts done by SIDART and suggested making more visits for a larger group of women participants. She promised to facilitate these visits and will help in arranging meetings and workshops with the Parliamentarians who are effectively working in their area. The exposure will enhance the learning of the participants to help them know how to get funds for their area development and also the schemes for their panchayats during their upcoming visits.

Visit to Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi

The visit was made to Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi, where the participants met Mr. B.N. Nanda, Economic Advisor and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises along with the team of Development officers and experts. Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme was described in detail by the experts and also informed that there are more than 450 projects for small enterprises.

Visit to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., Gurgaon

The visit was made to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., Gurgaon, where the participants met Colonel Prakash Tiwari, Senior VP and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Head. He encouraged the women to work for the betterment of their villages by uniting the villagers for this common cause. Some inspiring and informative films on women empowerment, leadership, working coordination in the villages among front line workers, health camps were shown to the participants by Colonel Tiwari.

Visit to Hanns Seidel Foundation, New Delhi

The participants also visited Hanns Seidel Foundation office in New Delhi and met Dr. Volker Bauer, Mr.Sandeep Dubey, Mr. Rahul Khera and Mr. Florian Bodamer. The rural women shared their experiences one by one about their visit to the Parliament, Udyog Bhawan and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. All of them thanked SIDART and HSF for organizing such a valuable and informative visit.

Visit to the Parliament and the Supreme Court, New Delhi

SIDART team members and elected women representatives i.e. Sarpanchs, Deputy Sarpanch, Ward Members, Panchayat Samiti Members, Ex Zila Parshad Members and SIDART Village Volunteers from Sanganer and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan had visited the Parliament and the Supreme Court in Delhi in July 2015.

The participants met Mr. R. N. Das, Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat and Mr. H. S. Simte, Deputy Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat in the Parliament and had discussion on the functioning of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. They also met the advocates of the Supreme Court - Mr. Neeraj Saxena, Mrs. Rajni and Ms. Firdaus Vaani and got the opportunity to attend the proceedings of the Supreme Court.

The participants also visited Hanns Seidel Foundation office in New Delhi and met Dr. Volker Bauer, Ms. Usha Subramanian, Mr. Sandeep Dubey, Mr. Rahul Khera and Ms. Soumya Mehrotra. The rural women shared their experiences about their visit to the Parliament and the Supreme Court.
