Micro-Irrigation for Sustainable Agriculture

This handbook is developed by ISEC with support from Hanns Seidel Foundation to help farmers apply water-use efficient methods for agriculture. Two years out of every decade are most likely the drought years faced by Karnataka. Agriculture in Karnataka remains susceptible & farming community vulnerable to the adverse impacts of droughts. Efficient use of water through micro-irrigation can help deal with droughts. However, adoption of micro-irrigation solely depends on the groundwater as well as its recharge levels. Farmers need to stop overusing groundwater & avoid flood irrigation method. Instead, they should adopt micro-irrigation methods for drought management & sustainable agriculture.
