State Policy Recommendations for Water Security in Gujarat

In 2022, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation developed a policy paper to provide recommendations to the Indian state of Gujarat on sustainable management of water resources. To make the recommendations, the paper draws upon the intervention strategies and ensuing results of the HSS-CEE's three-year project (2017-2019) in the Indian state of Gujarat. Inputs were also taken from the domain experts and existing water policies. The paper emphasizes on the need for water literacy, community participation, decentralised water management system and governance, and local level planning for effecting water security in the state.
